What is a Pedorthist?

A Pedorthist (peh-DOR-thist) is a health care professional who is specifically educated and trained to manage comprehensive pedorthic patient care. This includes patient assessment, formulation of a treatment plan, implementation of the treatment plan, follow-up and practice management.

After your doctor has determined what support your footwear, orthotics, or shoe modifications should provide, a pedorthist can fill that prescription.

What does a pedorthist do?

Many times it’s a team approach: your doctor treats your foot, and the pedorthist guides you through what footwear, orthotic or shoe modification will help your goal of better body balance.

Some folks come in for a free evaluation, by appointment, and are able to get guidance and do just  great with over-the-counter remedies that don’t require a diagnosis or a prescription.

On the whole, a Pedorthist will help with issues maintaining or regaining mobility, resolving injuries, and preventing further issues.  Gait analysis, checking your range of motion, and analyzing reactions to weight bearing vs non weight bearing are all ways a Pedorthist may choose the proper items for you.

We have seen nearly every problem feet experience and guide people to successful resolutions. Here are just a few that we have seen hundreds of times.

  • Heel spurs
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Pes Planus (flat feet, pronated)
  • Pes Cavus (high arched feet, supinated)
  • Metatarsalgia
  • Stone Bruise
  • Morton’s neuroma
  • Sesamoiditis
  • Post tibial tendonitis
  • Diabetic issues
  • Neuropathy
  • Charcot

Do you make custom orthotics?

Yes! Our Pedorthist, Jeffrey A. All custom orthotics or shoe modification require a prescription.

Do you take insurance?
